The challengeThe brief, and what was at stake

The client aimed to consolidate multiple standalone apps into a single product with enhanced capabilities, including account and card management, instant payments and transfers, remote onboarding, access to public services, integration with a leading mobile operator, and support for business accounts. Key challenges included time‑to‑market, premium UX, complex third‑party integrations, security and scalability.

We proposed a native stack (iOS/Android) with a modular architecture, clear domain boundaries and feature flags to develop streams in parallel. We implemented a robust CI/CD pipeline, automated builds and tests, and a fast, iterative release cycle. We built secure integrations with a national e‑government identity service (eID) and video‑KYC with Liveness, plus a gateway to the mobile operator to bring finance and telco into one interface.

Result:

First production release in 9 months. 100k+ users in the first month, 500k+ by month four, and 1.5M+ installs within the first year. Weekly updates post‑launch with rapid feature delivery and zero downtime.

01Desktop‑like workspace with drag‑and‑drop

We designed a “workspace” with shortcuts to core actions, reminiscent of a desktop. Users can configure quick actions and complete payments via drag-and-drop: simply move the card icon onto an action, and it’s done. This reduces cognitive load and time‑to‑action, lifting conversion for key flows (payments, transfers, top‑ups) and overall engagement.

02Total personalisation and instant localisation

Users choose theme, background, icon colours, notification sounds and tone of voice (for example, more formal or more friendly). We enabled instant theme and language switching without performance loss using lightweight design tokens and optimised localisation. This made the app feel truly personal and improved active user retention.

03eID + video‑KYC with Liveness

Integration with a national e‑government portal retrieves verified digital documents in seconds. Video identification complements the flow, with anti‑spoofing through Liveness checks. The result is a complete remote onboarding in minutes, compliant with security and regulatory requirements.

04Mobile operator integration

The app exposes mobile balance, spend history, fee‑free top‑ups and service management. We harmonised API differences and data‑handling requirements, extracting and unifying duplicated logic. Customers now have one window for finance and connectivity, fewer context switches and higher NPS.

05One product for personal and business accounts + “collect money”

Entrepreneurs manage personal and business accounts in one place, including statements, receipts, taxes, and multi-currency accounts. The “collect money” feature simplifies shared payments: create a request with an amount and participants, then share a QR code or link for instant transfers from friends or colleagues. Everyday scenarios are faster, boosting network effects.
